Botkyrka Cricket Club is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Sweden. Based in Botkyrka Kommun in Greater Stockholm, the club was founded by Khawaja Maqsood in 1999, one of the pioneer in Swedish cricket history.
The club comprises of players from diverse origin and culture with one thing in common i.e. the passion for cricket. Botkyrka Cricket Club’s footprint is combination of both experienced and youth, playing together in competitive environment while the game of cricket is still blooming in Sweden. The club has participated in many tournaments over the years, including Swedish National League and T20 tournaments. Botkyrka Cricket Club also organizes and hosts different tournaments during the cricket season. The Municipality of Botkyrka is situated between Stockholm and Södertälje and covers an area of 197 square kilometers - from Lake Mälaren in the north to the Baltic Sea in the south. In numbers of inhabitants, Botkyrka is the fourth largest municipality in Greater Stockholm. Botkyrka comprises seven municipal areas - Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba and Grödinge. A total of 78,500 people live in the municipality and the central municipal is in Tumba. In one of Södermanland’s oldest districts with many cultural traditions, Botkyrka is one of the most international municipalities in Sweden. Almost a third of the inhabitants have their roots in more than 100 countries around the world.
